A fire that broke out at ‘Shonartori Tower’ in Dhaka on Saturday morning has been doused. Locals said the fire erupted at Sonartori Tower on Bir Uttam CR Dutta Road near Bangla Motor under the city’s Kalabagan Police Station early in the morning on Saturday. When contacted, Farid Uddin, duty officer of Fire Service control room, said the fire broke out at a showroom of electronic appliances brand ‘Sony Rangs’ on the ground floor of the multi-storey commercial complex around 7:00am and spread soon. Being informed, eight firefighting units rushed to the spot from different fire stations in the city. Firefighters managed to douse the blaze around 8:20am. No casualty was reported. The origin of the fire and the extent of the loss caused by it could not be ascertained, according to a news agency.
