A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed Adviser to the BNP Chairperson and journalist union leader Shawkat Mahmud in three-day police remand for interrogation in connection with two cases filed under Anti-Terrorism and Explosives Acts. Metropolitan Magistrate, Dhaka, Shahriar Mahmud Adnan passed the order after hearing on Wednesday when police produced him before the court with a petition seeking 10-day remand. On Tuesday, plain-clothed policemen picked up Shawkat Mahmud, a senior leader of the BFUJ, from Panthapath area of Dhaka after foiling a press conference of pro-BNP professionals' electoral platform 'Adarsha Dhaka Andolon', according to a news agency.
