No expatriate Bangladeshis or Bangladeshi tourists were reported dead or injured among the 27 people that are reported dead and more than 100 injured, in twin bomb explosions in Bangkok. Bangladesh’s ambassador to Thailand Saida Muna Tasneem confirmed it citing its preliminary report. The Bangladesh Embassy in the Thail capital on Monday afternoon opened up a hotline +66931744855 for 24 hour contact for reporting any incident of injury or fatalities amongst Bangladeshis, including tourists, a few hours after the explosion by terrorists at one of Bangkok’s most popular tourist attractions, the Erawan Shrine next to Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel in Sukumvit area. Injured people, mostly Asian tourists, have been admitted to nearby Chualalongkorn memorial hospital and Police General Hospital where no Bangladeshis have been reported to have been admitted. Meantime, the Thai Military explosive ordinance has deactivated one more bomb attached to Sky Train BTS Station. Reports of bomb explosions in populous areas in Thailand’s southern provinces by suspected terrorists and killing of police and Buddhist monks by Muslim militants usually hog the headlines of local as well as international media but news of terror bomb attacks in Bangkok are rare, according to a news agency.
