Rajon murder charge hearing Aug 24

A Sylhet court will hear on August 24 the acceptance of the charge-sheet against 13 accused in Rajon murder case. Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Farhana Yasmin has fixed the date, Farid Uddin, general registrar of Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court, said on Monday. On Sunday, police pressed charges against 13 people in the case filed over the gruesome murder of minor boy Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon by some identified criminals in Kumargaon area in Sylhet city on July 8. The accused are Muhit Alam, 32, Kamrul Alam, 24, Shamim Alam, 20, Pavel Islam, 20, Ali Haider alias Ali, 34, Choukidar Moyna Miah alias Boro Moyna, 45, Nur Mohammad alias Nur Miah, 20, Dulal Ahmed, 30, Ayaz Ali, 45, Taj Uddin Badal, 28, Firoz Miah, 50, Asmat Ali, 42, and Ruhul Amin. Ten of the accused -- except Badal and Ruhul -- reportedly confessed to their involvement in the murder of Rajon before court under section 164 while Kamrul is in a Saudi Arabian jail. On July 8, Rajon, son of Sheikh Azizur Rahman of Badeali village under Sylhet Sadar upazila, was tortured to death over a trifling matter in Sundar Ali Market area of Kumargaon. The killers themselves took the video footage of the incident. The video clip went viral on social networking site Facebook and video-sharing site Youtube which triggered a widespread outcry, according to a news agency.
