Shahdat surrenders before court

Bangladesh cricketer Shahadat Hossain on Monday surrendered before a Dhaka court, one day after police arrested his wife Jesmin Jahan on charge of torturing a minor housemaid. Fast bowler Shahdat, who plays for the national cricket team and his wife had been absconding since a case was lodged against them with a Dhaka police station under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act. They are accused of torturing their 9-year-old domestic assistant. On Sunday, police arrested the pacer’s wife Jesmin Jahan from her father’s house in Malibagh in Dhaka city. The Bangladesh Cricket Board has banned Shahdat from all forms of cricket until the conclusion of the case, according to a news agency.
