Angus Deaton wins Nobel prize in economics


Angus Deaton of Britain is the 2015 winner of the Nobel prize in economics. The Edinburgh-born micro economist is best known for his work on health, wellbeing, and economic development.

The Scottish of Princeton University, New Jersey, USA, got the award ‘for his analysis of consumption, poverty, and welfare’, an Academy press release said on Monday.

The Nobel Committee said: “To design economic policy that promotes welfare and reduces poverty, we must first understand individual consumption choices. More than anyone else, Angus Deaton has enhanced this understanding.
