Captain AB de Villiers struck an undefeated 104 as South Africa beat India by five runs in Kanpur on Sunday in the first one-day international (ODI) of a five-game series. De Villiers propelled his team to 303 for five wickets, smashing six sixes and five fours in his 73-ball knock. Faf du Plessis (62) and Farhaan Behardien (35 not out) also chipped in to help register the first score of more than 300 at the ground. For India, Rohit Sharma struck a fine 150 as they finished just short at 298-7, according to a news agency.
