More needed to be done in RMG sector: Bernicat

US Ambassador in Dhaka Marcia Bernicat on Friday said there has been significant progress in Bangladesh’s readymade garment (RMG) sector’s capacity building over the last 2-and-half-year but some more tasks needed to be done. “Specially, there has been much progress in terms of workers’ safety, but more have to be done,” she said while addressing a function in Signboard area in Gazipur district. The US diplomat said her country and the international community are witnessing that workers rights are respected in Bangladesh and they are allowed to assemble together. Bernicat said the international buyers know how a worker is working and the efforts will be successful once owners and workers will work jointly. “Change is never an easy job.” Some 113 talented students were given stipend at the function, according to UNB.
