Yunus Social Business Week launched in China

Nobel Peace prize winner Professor Muhammad Yunus has launched Yunus Social Business Week in Beijing. The Nobel laureate has been on a visit to China from October 9-14. The week-long programme took the microeconomic pioneer in Beijing, Kunming, Shanghai, Shenzen, and Hong Kong. He is addressing government officials, business leaders, and civil society activists in each city. He is also addressing audiences of university students at campuses on social business and building towards sustainable world.

At the opening dinner of China Yunus Social Business Week in Beijing professors from universities, business leaders from investment companies and microfinance leaders were present. Young entrepreneur Wang Ke, CEO of Koudai.com a multi-billion dollar company, second to Alibaba in mobile phone penetration, hosted the opening dinner. He is interested in spreading microcredit through his mobile phone platform and set up social business joint ventures with Grameen China. Yunus, the founder of Grameen Bank, delivered a speech, focused on social business activities around the world, particularly in China. Gao Zhan, CEO of Grameen China, briefly introduced Grameen China and its vision.
