Muggers snatched away a truck loaded with 19 cattle from a group of cattle traders in Mirer Bazar area of Gazipur city on early Thursday. Victim traders said they bought 19 cattle from Rajshahi and were heading towards Noakhali for selling those on Wednesday night. When the truck reached the area in the early morning, a gang of miscreants numbering 10-12 equipped with locally made weapons, on a pick-up van obstructed them. Later the bandits tied up the truck driver, his helper and traders. The thugs snatched Tk 30,000, five mobile phone sets and 19 cattle along with the truck and decamped leaving the traders into Rajendrapur jungle. Police recovered the truck from Mowchak area in an abandoned condition. Khandaker Rezaul Karim, officer-in-charge of Joydebpur Police Station, confirmed the incident, according to a news agency.
