Teachers announce 2-day work abstention

Public university teachers have announced another two-day work abstention as protest of their status and salary in the eighth national pay scale. The agitating teachers of the public varsities on Thursday said that they will abstain from works on September 13 and 17. Bangladesh University Teachers Association Federation president Professor Dr Farid Uddin Ahmed confirmed the decision of the private varsity teachers to observe another round of work abstention this month. He said that Dhaka University Teachers Association in a federation meeting held on Thursday made the decision to abstain from work on September 13 and 17. The classes will not be held on the two days, he added. On Tuesday (September 8), the teachers of 37 public universities staged a full-day work abstention in support of their demands, according to a news agency
