NSU, Independent University go on holidays

North South University authorities have decided to suspend classes from Monday while Independent University of Bangladesh is going on early Eid vacation amid students demonstrations.

Amid the countrywide students agitations against the 7.5 per cent VAT on their tuition fees, North South University (NSU) has suspended classes and examinations until Tuesday. And the Independent University of Bangladesh (IUB) has gone on Eid vacation about two weeks before Eid-ul-Azha. The announcements were posted on their websites.

“Due to unavoidable circumstances all classes and exams have been suspended till Tuesday, Septmeber 15,” reads the web post by the NSU.

The announcement on IUB’s website reads, “All classes of the University will remain closed from Sep 13 to Sep 26 to observe the Eid-ul-Azha. Classes will resume from Sep 27,” according to a news agency.
