Heath Streak of Zimbabwe, the bowling coach Bangladesh national cricket team, has been appointed as A team coach for the India tour this month. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Saturday declared the appointment of the Zimbabwean pacer in new post. The BCB on Tuesday named a strong Bangladesh A team for the tour of India. Mominul Haque will lead the 15-man strong squad, including 14 international cricketers. The Bangladesh A are set to leave Dhaka for India on Sunday for the two-week tour to play three one-day matches and two three-day matches. The first match begins on September 16. Soumya Sarkar and Rubel Hossain have been including in the team.
Bangladesh A are set to take on reigning domestic treble champions Karnataka in a three-day game. With Bangladesh set to take on Australia in a two-Test series in October, the BCB have chosen the tour to India as means to properly test their bench strength. The tour also serves as match practice for players like fast bowler Taskin Ahmed and Anamal Haque who are coming back from injury. Haque missed out on the 2015 World Cup with a shoulder injury while Taskin has been troubled with niggling injuries for quite some time. Also set for making his first competitive fixture for more than six months is fast bowler Al-Amin Hossain who was sent home from Australia based on disciplinary grounds. The team possesses a strong line-up that includes Nasir Hossain, Liton Das, and Sabbir Rahman apart from Sarkar and Mominul. The only player in the squad who is yet to feature at the international level is left-arm spinner Saqlain Sajib and the skipper acknowledged that he has a strong side at his disposal. "It’s my first tour abroad as a captain so looking ahead to make it memorable," Mominul said. "It won’t be easy considering we will be playing against the Indians at their own backyard, but I am confident that we can put up a good show considering our strength. I think we have got an experienced squad and it will be good for our preparation ahead of the series against Australia."
Bangladesh A squad: Anamul Haque, Rony Talukdar, Liton Das, Sabbir Rahman, Soumya Sarkar, Mominul Hoque (capt), Nasir Hossain, Saqlain Sajib, Arafat Sunny, Rubel Hossain, Shafiul Islam, Al-Amin Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Shuvagata Hom, Jubair Hossain, according to cricinfo.
