The authorities have suspend flight services at Cox’s Bazar Airport for an indefinite period because of strong wing and rainfall triggered by cyclone Komen. The decision came from an emergency meeting of the local disaster management committee on Wednesday night. Acting Deputy Commissioner Anupom Saha presided over the meeting. Flight services will remain suspended till the situation comes to normal, said the DC. The educational institutions of Cox’s Bazar district were also announced closed at the meeting as the schools would be used as cyclone shelters. The deep depression over the Northeast Bay and adjoining Bangladesh coast moved slightly north-northeastwards over the same area and intensified into cyclonic storm, ‘Komen’ at night. Maritime ports of Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar have been advised to keep hoisted danger signal No 7, according to a news agency.
