Apple not planning to merge MacBook, iPad

Apple is not planning to merge the MacBook and iPad. Tim Cook, Apple's CEO, made that clear in an interview.
“We feel strongly that customers are not really looking for a converged Mac and iPad,” he said.
Cook admitted that the difference between MacBooks and iPads is getting smaller with each iteration, but asserted that Apple still sees the two product lines as separate.
"we want to make the best tablet in the world and the best Mac in the world. And putting those two together would not achieve either. You’d begin to compromise in different ways,” he said.
Clarifying his recent comments about the death of PC, Cook said he actually meant Windows PCs, not Macs.
Cook did not have a direct comment on the rumors that Apple is building a car, merely saying there would be "significant changes in the automobile industry over the next several years with electrification and autonomous driving," according to media reports. -amh
