Anwar Ali Pakistan's No. 9 batsman, waltzed into the belly of a baying Premadasa with 66 required from 35 balls, and produced a cataclysmic 46 from 17 balls, to help prise stunning victory from the clutches of almost-certain defeat. He brought the chase of 173 to sudden life when he plundered two sixes and a four off debutant Shehan Jayasuriya in the 17th over, before treating Thisara Perera and Lasith Malinga with almost as much disdain to send Pakistan to within eight runs of victory. Malinga had Anwar caught behind in the penultimate over, and another wicket would also fall two balls later, but Imad Wasim was on hand to provide the finish. Binura Fernando had the task of defending six runs in the final over, but Mohammad Irfan pinched a single first ball, then Wasim socked the next delivery over the wide long-on rope to spark celebrations in the Pakistan camp.

Four of family killed in hill slide
Hill slide killed four people and injured two others in Bandarban on Saturday morning. Local people said four members of the same family were killed and two others injured as a big chunk of mud fell on their house adjacent to a hill in Lama upazila of the district early in the morning. The deceased were identified as Amena Begum, 35, Putu, 10, Rizina Akter, 34, and Md Abdus Samad, 5. Locals said the death toll may rise as two people remained trapped under debris. Being informed, fire service men, with the help of the locals, recovered the bodies and rescued the injured. The injured were rushed to Lama Upazila Health Complex. Officer-in-charge of Lama Police Station Sirajul Islam confirmed the incident, according to a news agency.

A historic day: Mamata Banerjee
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has described July 31, 2015, as a historic day. She said the historic Land Boundary Agreement (LBA) between India and Bangladesh to begin swap of Chhit-Mahal (enclaves) has come into effect from Friday midnight. Ms Banerjee was expressing her reaction while speaking with journalists on the eve of the swap of 111 pockets spreads along the borders between the two neighbouring countries. “It’s a historic and memorable day,” was the reaction by the Trinamool Congress leader when respinding to a query by a reporter in Kolkata on the eve of the exchange of the ‘little island’, according to UNI.

Auto-rickshaw operators block Dhk-Mawa highway
Traffic movement on the Dhaka-Mawa highway remained halted for one hour on Saturday as the CNG-run auto-rickshaw owners and workers put up barricade on the highway at Baushia in Gazaria upazila of Munshiganj district protesting the government decision to ban plying of the three- wheeler on the highways across the country. Sergeant Saiful Islam, in-charge of Bhaberchar highway police camp, said a group of owners and workers of CNG-run auto-rickshaws took to the street around 11:15 am in the area and blocked the road, halting vehicular movement on the highway that cut off the link of the capital with Munshiganj. On information, police rushed in and calmed down the demonstrators with an assurance that they along with local people would hold talks with the authorities for meeting their demand. However, the traffic came to normalcy around 12:15 pm. A huge traffic jam ensued on the highway during the blockade that continued from 11:15 am to 12:15 pm, according to UNB.
