The results of this year’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations have been published and 74.79 per cent of those who appeared have passed.
That is a rise of 5.1 per cent over last year's success rate. As many as 58,276 students have secured GPA-5 grade.
The success rate in the college-leaving exams last year was 69.60 per cent and 42,894 had scored GPA-5.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid handed over copies of the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday morning at Ganabhaban. Nahid is also scheduled to brief the media on the highlights of the results at 1pm at the Secretariat. The results will also be available on the website, www.educationboardresults.gov.bd, from 2pm. Apart from their own institutions, the students will be able to find out their results through SMS on mobile phones too.
More than 1.2 million students sat for this year's exams under eight general, one madrasa and one technical education boards, according to a news agency.
